IX BACK AIR back exoskeleton from SuitX (formerly Ottobock)

"SUITX by Ottobock" has further developed the successful BackX exoskeleton. The new model, IX BACK AIR, offers improved performance, more comfort and is lighter. It reduces the load on the lower back by an impressive 56 percent while placing no additional stress on the spine, as shown in studies with the BackX. The IX BACK AIR is targeted at people who work in the logistics industry and handle dynamic work processes, such as manually moving loads and operating industrial trucks.

An integrated mode automatically detects when support is needed and when freedom of movement is required. The IX BACK AIR is also ideal for working in confined spaces, such as containers, due to its slim and ergonomic design. Weighing just under three kilograms, this new back exoskeleton is particularly light and comfortable to wear. The innovative technology redirects forces in the body, stores them temporarily and releases them in a targeted manner, all without relying on batteries. The IX BACK AIR can be worn all day long by using the body's own energy.

The IX BACK AIR takes less than 20 seconds to put on and take off, and it can be easily adapted to different body sizes ("one size fits all"). The exoskeleton is particularly comfortable and features intuitive closures and removable pads. In addition, reflectors are integrated to improve the visibility of users. Thanks to its slim and body-hugging design, the IX BACK AIR can even be worn under protective vests.

The new exoskeleton for logistics will be available worldwide from October 9, 2023. The IX BACK AIR can be tested in everyday work as part of an Experience Package (from EUR 2,900). Specialized ergonomics experts from SUITX by Ottobock accompany the test phase from training to evaluation.
