The Cionic Neural Sleeve NS-100 is used for dorsiflexion and/or plantar flexion of the ankle in adults with drop foot and/or to assist in knee flexion or extension in adults with muscle weakness associated with upper motor neuron disease/injury (e.g., stroke, damage to pathways to the spinal cord).
Everything you need to know about the features and benefits of the Neural Sleeve™ electrostimulation for movement restrictions by CIONIC. need to know.
The Cionic Neural Sleeve assists with activities of daily living. The system is controlled by the CIONIC app for iOS and Android and allows you to do the following:

Personalized whole leg stimulation
Hamstrings
Hamstrings during the swing for improved knee flexion
Plantar flexors
Plantar flexors for improved push-off
Quadriceps
Quadriceps for stability during load response
Dorsiflexors
Dorsiflexors during the swing for improved foot clearance
The Cionic Neural Sleeve NS-100 is designed to provide dorsiflexion and/or plantar flexion of the ankle in adults with drop foot and/or to assist in knee flexion or extension in adults with muscle weakness associated with upper motor neuron disease/injury (e.g., stroke, damage to pathways to the spinal cord). The Cionic Neural Sleeve NS-100 electrically stimulates muscles in the affected leg to allow dorsiflexion of the ankle and/or plantar flexion of the foot and/or knee flexion or extension; thus, it may also improve the individual's gait.
The Cionic Neural Sleeve NS-100 can also:
Contraindications:
Individuals with implanted on-demand pacemakers or defibrillators should not use the Cionic Neural Sleeve; the Cionic Neural Sleeve should not be used over malignant tumors; the Cionic Neural Sleeve should not be placed over areas where thrombosis is already present; the Cionic Neural Sleeve should not be used on a leg where a regional disorder, such as a fracture or dislocation, could be adversely affected by movement due to stimulation.
The Cionic Neural Sleeve is currently available in two colors - Graphite and Sapphire. More colors will be released in the future.
Depending on the usage, the battery is supposed to last around 8 hours.
The Control Unit can expect to last for several years if well maintained. The Control Unit has a rechargeable battery that is not removable. Do not attempt to replace the battery. Maintain a routine of daily charging if you use the system regularly, and at least once a month if your system is stored. Avoid leaving your control unit uncharged indefinitely to minimize the risk of reduced battery life. Refer to the Technical Specifications section of the manual for information on appropriate operating and storage conditions.
Individuals may respond differently to wearing the sleeve. In studies we have conducted, some participants have demonstrated an increase in gait speed. Other participants report increased endurance or the ability to walk longer or over greater distances.
We recommend starting with a sleeve on the most affected side.
Yes, we will schedule an online training session with one of our mobility specialists who will guide you through the process of setting up your Neural Sleeve. The mobility specialist will evaluate your walking with the Neural Sleeve and adjust settings to maximize effectiveness and comfort.
Functional electrical stimulation should not be painful. Some users describe the sensation as tingling, tapping, buzzing or pulling in the muscles. The stimulation parameters can be adjusted to find the most comfortable setting for each individual.
The Cionic Neural Sleeve has a one-year warranty from the date of purchase. CIONIC does not provide free repair for malfunctions caused by the following behaviors:
Electrode life varies based on usage, but we will provide replacements as part of our subscription program during the first year if the electrodes deteriorate.
The sleeve is designed to provide improved comfort and breathability - similar to leggings.
The Neural Sleeve is available in different sizes to fit different body shapes, and measuring is part of the ordering process.
The shell is made of 2 layers of sports performance fabric (84 % nylon, 16 % Lycra®) with integrated electronic components.
We are currently approved by the FDA to market and sell the Cionic Neural Sleeve in the United States. A valid prescription from a U.S. based physician and a U.S. mailing address are required. We are evaluating potential collaborations to expand internationally in the future.
Currently, the Cionic Neural Sleeve is indicated for use in adults 22 years of age and older. We will be conducting pediatric studies in the near future and will announce new studies and future availability directly in our newsletter.
CIONIC builds bionic clothing that can analyze and augment human movement, allowing the body to move more freely and with greater control. In addition to being lightweight and durable, the system is powered by powerful algorithms that adapt in real time to each individual's mobility needs. And open APIs have been developed, allowing researchers and clinicians to develop new solutions as easily as creating an app for your phone. CIONIC was founded in 2018 by serial entrepreneur Jeremiah Robison, who believed there had to be better ways to diagnose his daughter's cerebral palsy than crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs. CIONIC has raised a total of $23.3M in 4 rounds of funding. The latest funding was raised on September 28, 2022 in a Series A round. CIONIC is funded by 6 investors. JobsOhio Growth Capital Fund and Caffeinated Capital are the most recent investors.
